#Cinchspiration Update!! You’ll want to read this one… it’s great!

Well, I figured that it was about time that I updated everyone on my weight loss journey since it’s been almost 8 weeks. So let’s get started with the important stuff…

These are the measurements that I shared with you when I started the Cinch program.

Chest: 34
Waist: 36
Hips: 44
Thighs: 25 1/2
Arms: 13
Weight: 180
BMI: 27.4

And here are my stats as of August 6th.

Chest: 33
Waist: 33
Hips: 43
Thighs: 24 1/2
Arms: 12
Weight: 167.5
BMI: 25.5 (I am SOOO close to the healthy range!)

I have to say that I am very happy with the results so far! But that’s not to say that I am slowing down or stopping because there is more weight to be lost, toning to happen, and goals to be met!

So with all that said there is a lot that I have learned over the past few weeks and it’s been great. So here’s my list…

Weight Loss – Lessons Learned

  1. Knowing the difference between eating when you’re hungry and when you’re not. OMG… this right here has been the biggest eye opening thing yet and if this is the only thing that I learn while taking part in the program then it’s well worth it. I am one that has always just eaten whenever I felt like it whether I was hungry or not OR I would wait to long and be starving and then just pig out on whatever I could find within arms reach. Bad…bad…bad! This has really changed the way I think about food and eating. More often than not when I think I’m hungry I reach for the water and drink it down and TADA! hunger is gone. Part of this is knowing how long ago I just ate, what I ate, and of course how active I’ve been. Understanding this has really helped me cut back and get a great jump start on my weight loss.
  2. Exercise. Yea, I’m slow getting to the game I know… I would do a little bit here and there but nothing daily, no routine, and no plan. Well, I figured it out…. walking, running, or doing something makes the weight move faster. So I’ve been walking almost every day and my goal is to get my average walking time to 15 minutes per mile. Now, I’m getting closer every time I walk unless I take Andrew in the stroller and then my time slows down a bit but it’s helping out a lot!
  3. The more you exercise the more you want to do it! If I skip walking one day the next day I really feel the need to get out there and do something no matter how warm it is! I’ve been getting out and walking no matter what the temp is and for me that is huge! I hate the heat.
  4. One day, all of a sudden you’ll notice that your clothes are to big!
  5. Most of important… it takes time. The weight didn’t appear overnight and sure isn’t going to disappear any faster. For a bit I felt defeated because the weight wasn’t going away but now I’m seeing great results!
One of the best things happened recently too! I went shopping with my daughter and wanted to get a new pair of jeans…. well we all know how difficult jean shopping can be. I didn’t come home with a new pair of jeans but what I did come home with was a new size! I’ve been wearing a 14 – 16 for a while but now…. I can wear a 12! I have no idea when the last time was that I wore a 12… seriously people this is a big deal here! Because of this I am totally renewed and determined to keep at it and lose those last few (ok so it’s more than a few) pounds and be a solid size 10.

A New Beginning

Last weekend I went to Bloogy Bootcamp in Chicago and it was one of the best experiences that I’ve had this year when it comes to blogging and social media. I’m still trying to process everything I’ve learned, follow up with all the wonderful people I had met, and narrow down the three things I’m going to focus on.

There are few things that Tiffany said between speakers that has really been sticking with me this past week.

  • Only pick 3 things to work on after the conference.
  • You’ll do really well on those 3 things.
  • Where you put your attention you get results.

So why is it that those things are sticking with me? Well, it’s because I have this issue with wanting to help here or there, joining various causes, and when it comes down to it spreading my self way to thin. I end up overwhelmed and not able to give things the attention that they deserve and then I end up letting myself and others down. This isn’t fair to anyone involved.

I want to be able to make an impact and inspire people through my blog. I want it to be well known and like throughout the blogosphere. There are so many things that I want, but without focus and starting here at home I won’t be able to reach any of those things.

I’ve cleared my plate.

From now on my focus needs to be on this blog, my social media presence, and the goals that I want to obtain in the next few months. That alone is a lot of work considering that I work full time, have four children, and a husband who owns his own business and is always busy.

For now I have some ideas of where I want to start and what I need to do.

Tomorrow starts a new beginning.

Social Media as a Career

Goals. We all have them, right?

Well today we’re going to discuss my blogging goals for the Summer Blog Social that is being hosted by Liz from a belle, a bean, and a chicago dog and Jessica from Four Plus an Angel.

So there’s a specific prompt….

What are your overriding goals for your blog and social media presence? How have those goals evolved over time?

I can most certainly tell you that when I started out just over a year ago I had no goals. None. I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing and just hoping for the best. And I learned a great deal! Wow… I seriously couldn’t believe how much there was to this blogging thing. Numbers, stats, commenting, Google Analytics, mingling, joining groups, reviews, giveaways… the list seemed endless of all the things that you could take into account where blogging is concerned so many directions that you could go with it all. But now that I look back what it comes down to is what you really want to do with your blog, where you want to take it, and most importantly having fun with what you decide to do.

Alright, my goals.

So I love this blogging & social media thing. Being able to meet new people and interact with them on a daily basis is great. I’ve met so many people and it amazes me everyday how helping and generous they all are with their time and knowledge. Not that long ago I decided that social media is something that I would love to be able to do all the time and some day I want to be doing this for a living. Blogging & social media as my official career is my goal.

Is it a lofty goal? Maybe, but I think that it is one that is definitely obtainable. I just need to get pointed in the right direction and with help I believe that I can make it happen.

The first couple things that I am doing to get closer to that is increase my content ensuring that it’s good content too. Next on the list is getting more organized when it comes to blogging and my posting schedule. Easy peasy! I’ve been doing it for almost a week now! Yay me!

So there you have friends, my goal. Just one to make it easy on myself.

What do you think? Any suggestions on where or how to start?
