Meijer Garden Trip

Last weekend my family and I took a trip to Grand Rapids to Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. If you live here in Michigan I suggest you take a day and spend a few hours there just wandering around looking at everything that they have to offer.

Through the end of September they’re having an exhibit of Dale Chihuly glass. And it’s an amazing exhibit! Last year was the first time that I had ever seen the glass work that he does at the Flint Institute of Arts and was very impressed with it. If you ever have a chance I’d really recommend seeing it.

The collection was both inside and outside throughout the sculpture park, some in the water and some were stuck in the ground.

Here are a few pictures of some of the ones that are my favorites.

This one is just outside the doors as you go out to the sculpture gardens. It reminds me of amethysts.

This reminds me of so many things, a fluffy dandelion, a star, or a gigantic peice of dust! It’s placed in a pond with several floating spheres that are in a rainbow of colors.

Here’s the waterfall and koi pond, which also has these large, colorful spheres. Knowing how delicate glass can be it’s incredible how they have all these pieces of art placed in the water and woods and are left out there.

For now, this is the final picture. This piece is in the Victorian Garden and stands well over 7 or 8 feet tall!

The glass work is truly amazing and like I said, if you ever get a chance to see it go do it. You won’t be sorry that you did!
